Re: It seems to bode well that they chose a person (2.00 / 4)

It won't stop.  It will never stop.  They hate her so much and have been so programmed to suspect every Clinton sneeze as some sort of devilish plot.

It's over, they won, but they still can't stop trying to destroy her good name by insinuating suspicion.

That said, I hope that Hillary and Obama (I did that alphabetically, by the way so don't accuse me of placing her ahead of him) can reach an accord that some of their supporters can't, and find a way to utilize the best trait of both of them to fight McCain the the fall.  Personally, I want her as Senate Majority Leader, not some trophy VP slot.

We know that all of you don't hate her.  But we have to acknowledge that there are those who did and still do.

Refer to my comment in response to the belligerent poster and my history.  The response to my comment are completely over the top.

I suppose given the raw nerves of many commenters, I can understand some sensitivity, but really?  I make a statement implying that Hillary must have some respect for BO to have invited him over and the replies go batshit accusing me of Hillary-hate!

Again, I said Barack should be careful because since he was on her turf, it would have been embarrassing for him to get kicked out for being too accusatory or demanding in his dialogue as there were those already implying that they might vent their primary frustrations.

The fact that so many are so eager to accuse and berate is additional evidence of what the "real" problem is in our party right now - and it is NOT Barack or Hillary.  It's us.

Your juvenile rant is neither impressive or (none / 0)

warranted.  Do you even look at that 'whole' comment or into the history of an individual's comments before inserting your foot in your mouth?

A question regarding what I meant by "take it easy" might have been in order, especially when it was clear I was stating that it would seem to me that Hillary would not invite someone into her home that she didn't respect.  So then why would it be assumed that somehow I would be saying in the same statement that she had nefarious intentions?

When I said take it easy, I was simply implying that I hoped Barack would take it easy in the dialogue - not demand, not point fingers, etc.  It would have been a shame to have cameras catching him being kicked out.

I didn't say he should "watch his back" or "not drink the water."  Of course, the fact that you could take such a leap speaks to your derangement, not mine.  You need to step away from the keyboard and go outside and get some fresh air.  You have obviously become too entrenched in partisan warfare to be able to see the forest for the trees.

Also, given the tone and verbiage within your comment and several below, it is apparent that someone left the damn gate open!!!!

Re: Barack Obama Meeting with Hillary Clinton Toni (none / 0)

There's always this:

This morning in Virginia's Appalachian mountains, 95-year-old Charles Edwards presented Barack Obama with a big maple stick that he had carved as a gift. Obama held it in his hand and shook it, smiling:

"I like it! And if members of Congress don't pass my health care bill, I'm ready. I'll whoop `em. I'll whoop `em. That's right. They'd better not mess with me. I'll have that stick."

The power of the "stick," of course, is whether a president can mobilize members of the public in large enough numbers to cause members of Congress that thought they wouldn't back his initiatives to suddenly turn around and support him....

Oh, wait.

Re: Barack Obama Meeting with Hillary Clinton Toni (2.00 / 1)

I think it bodes well.  No doubt there will be a bit of clearing the air, and some honest talk about how to accomodate Hillary's wishes after her accomplishments during the campaign.

I also think she'll find out she won't be VP, for myriad reasons.  But certainly, she's earned something nice that she wants, and there will be a big recognition for her at the convention.

I'm also sure not only that Obama will pave the way for both Hillary and Bill to regain their reputation with African Americans, but it will also be on them to heal the rift with women.

There will be no more talk of sexism, mysogyny, nor of her claim to the popular vote.

I haven't seen a single diary on the DKos rec list anywhere near as nasty as the trash that was routinely rec-listed here, nor were Hillary supporters on DKos ever deprived of rec rights for no valid reason as so many Obama supporters were here.  Not to mention that unlike here, where non-primary but important and content-filled diaries were almost universally ignored in favor of anti-Obama hate screeds, non-primary diaries made the rec list regularly over there, as did a number of diaries by Hillary supporters.

Anybody from MyDD calling DKos a hate site ought to heed the famous advice about eyes, motes, and beams.

Key word in there being... (1.50 / 2)

FORMER Kossacks.  The Kos that most people here base their hatred off of hasn't existed for several months, but since they couldn't be bothered to check back, they simply assume that nothing has changed.

And I stand by what I said before: at its worst, the anti-Hillary sentiment there was no more virulent or universal than the anti-Obama hysteria was here.  If anything, it was less so, because non-primary diaries were embraced there as places where both sides could find common cause, whereas here they were totally ignored in favor of "OMG HE FLIPPED HER OFF--WITH TWO FINGERS!".

Only Good Will Come Of This (2.00 / 1)

These are professional politicians who are going to put party first.  There are frayed feelings and desires on each side and both are empathetic and pragmatic people.

This is still a great sign though.  I hope this leads to a very soon joint appearance with some good symbology and strategy (maybe a swing together through Florida, Ohio and Penn?).

I think we need some strong visuals of the two together (and maybe Bill thrown in as well or maybe side trips with Bill and Obama together).  And not just one time, multiple times, that will really help us who arent so professional and pragmatic.

But honestly, at this point I dont care too much.  Im already at the stage where I am confident things will work out and all we need is time and it will probably happen quicker than I hope.

I assure you she will do that on saturday. Also, the "as far as I know" was only said because she was pressed on the question forever, as if there was some secret from 60 Minutes

Re: Hillary Clinton as vp (none / 0)

Over at talkleft most people want him to make it on his own--out of anger I think.  I personally think Hillary would be a much stronger advocate for her issues in the Senate, and I think they'd welcome back very easily.  I think people who don't think so haven't run for office.  Its no easy thing to amass 18 million supporters in a hotly contested election, without enough money, with out the support of the press, and without the support of the party.

Re: Hillary Clinton as vp (none / 0)

It's 17 million and they are not "hers"
A large percentage are Democrats and would easily vote for Barack Obama.  They voted Clinton because they know the name.  People don't' belong to a candidate.  Voting for them does not mean you own them.

It seems folks are still crazed.

More time.

And more of McCain's weird grins.

I'm heightist, by the way, but I do think him a cute little feller, especially when mad.

This person, by Sam Wise Gingy on Thu Jun 05, 2008 at 10:25:34 PM EST, joked about Barack, watch the silver and listening devices and said just kidding.  I joked back and pointed out since the meeting is at her house maybe she should watch the silver.  Keep up and relax.  If you can make a right wing smear out of that exchange we are in for a bumpy ride.

by vic0826 on Thu Jun 05, 2008 at 10:41:33 PM EST

Re: Barack Obama Meeting with Hillary Clinton Toni (1.00 / 1)

I got it.  You were punning off of Sam's comment.

But my statement holds true - regardless if it was a pun or not - and that is to all here.

I'm tired of hearing how Obama needs to have a food taster or count the silverware.

those are republican smear points.  And counterattacking back is not useful either.

sorry, that is just how I feel about it right now.

it's just beyond your comprehension that an obama supporter can make a joke about their own candidate, isn't it?

Big fan of anything with the word `Nerf` (none / 0)

involved...

For $5 you can get these great foam disk guns at Toys-R-Us.  Christmas at home (or any other less predictable occasion) always finds new things like that around here.

Also encourage their use in the office.  Been a remote worker a lot for years, always try to show up in the office with some foam weapons from time to time to completely disrupt productivity...

Obama Hate at Talkleft (2.00 / 1)

If you really don't believe that there is a lot of Obama hate out there, check out this thread at talkleft

http://www.talkleft.com/story/2008/6/5/1 8202/39151

Look at the postings from tek and from shannon and from many others.

Look at how people comment how funny the thread is.  yeah, because saying Michelle wants to kill whitey is really funny.

This is really where you get into hate speech.

I have yet to see or read anything here against Hillary that is as bile filled and hate filled as this.

And yet Armando and Jeralyn do nothing about these people.

Is this really representative of what HRC stands for?  I would really like to see some answers on this

300 people... that's who's posting all this stuff, and we have no idea how many are operation chaos operatives.

There will be some Clinton or no one people out there, just like there would have been Barack or no one...

Just remember, that there are Republican anti-McCain dead enders as well.  I know one!

JUST A THOUGHT... (2.00 / 1)

Thomas DeFrank in the New York Daily News today:  "Stick a fork in Hillary, no use a STAKE instead" Ah now the Obama loving press wants us to believe that Hillary Clinton is a vampire.  This is after Don Imus has referred to her numerous times as Satan.  And they wonder why we're still pissed off.  If the situation were reversed they wouldn't use anything near this language about Obama. Mr DeFrank is a frequent guest on Obama's campaign manager's show, better known as Hardball.
