It's been a month since many Clinton supporters walked out of the Daily Kos website. Despite all of the "Don't let the door hit you in the ass!" comments we received, there seems to have been a clear impact of traffic volume at Daily Kos. It's down. Significantly.
Take a look at the past month's traffic.

There is a weekly pattern - with the most hits midweek and fewer on the weekend; however, last week Daily Kos visits struggled to top 1 million during the middle of the week. Pair that with evidence that these numbers might be inflated - per Patrick Ruffini - and things do not look too cheerful in Mudville, of late.
You know, I used to truly enjoy reading and posting there, but it got to the point where it was a waste of time and effort. Not to mention that nobody likes to walk into a buzz saw for entertainment. It just got too nasty. I don't know if progressive political blogdom will recover from the 2008 election cycle. Internet tools, rather than expanding organizing capacity, appear to be producing circular firing squads.
Still, I stand by my decision to leave Daily Kos along with many others. Civility had long since gone out the window. I regret that Daily Kos may be seen by political talking heads and advertisers as passe. At one time it was the hottest thing out there. No longer.
